[1] Thus have I heard:

On a certain occasion the Exalted One was staying near Sāvatthī.

Then the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

"Yes, lord," they replied,
and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, because of the worthy man
four profits are to be looked for.

What four?

One grows in the Ariyan virtue,
one grows in the Ariyan concentration,
one grows in the Ariyan wisdom,
one grows in the Ariyan release.[1]

These are the four profits.'
