Quittance of Hypocrisy 3

[653.1] Thus have I heard:

Once the Exalted One dwelt near Sāvatthī;
and there he addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

'Yes, lord,' they replied;
and the Exalted One said:

''Monks, for the quittance of hypocrisy
five things ought to be made to become.

What five?

Of impermanence,
of ill in impermanence,
of there being no-self in ill,
of renunciation,
of dispassion.

Verily, monks, for the quittance of hypocrisy
these five things ought to be made to become.'
