Ekaṁ samayaṁ Bhagavā Bhaggesu viharati Suṁsumāragire bhesakalāvane Migadāye|| ||

[2] Atha kho Nakula-pitā gahapati yena Bhagavā ten'upasaṅkami.|| ||

Upasaṅkamitvā Bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā ekaeka-m-antaṁ nisīdi|| ||

[3] Eka-m-antaṁ nisinno kho Nakula-pitā gahapati Bhagavantaṁ etad avoca:|| ||

"Aham asmi bhante, jiṇṇo vuddho mahallako addhagato vayo anuppatto ātura-kāyo abhikkhaṇātaṅko||
aniccadassāvī kho panāhaṁ bhante,||
Bhagavato mano-bhāvanīyānañ ca bhikkhūnaṁ||
Ovadatu maṁ bhante Bhagavā, anusāsatu maṁ bhante Bhagavā,||
yaṁ mama assa dīgha-rattaṁ hitāya sukhāyā" ti|| ||

[4] "Evam etaṁ gahapati, evam etaṁ gahapati,||
āturo te gahapati,||
kāyo aṇḍabhūto pariyonaddho||
Yo hi gahapati.||
Imaṁ kāyaṁ pariharanto muhuttam pi ārogyaṁ paṭijāneyya,||
kimaññatra bālyā.|| ||

Tasmātiha te gahapati, evaṁ sikkhitabbaṁ:|| ||

'Āturakāyassa me sato cittaṁ anāturaṁ bhavissatī' ti|| ||

Evaṁ hi te gahapati, sikkhitabban" ti.|| ||

[5] Atha kho Nakula-pitā gahapati Bhagavato bhāsitaṁ [2] abhinan'ditvā anumo-ditvā uṭṭhāy āsanā Bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā padakkhiṇaṁ katvā yen'āyasmā Sāriputto ten'upasaṅkami.|| ||

Upasaṅkamitvā āyasmantaṁ Sāriputtaṁ abhivādetvā eka-m-antaṁ nisīdi.|| ||

[6] Eka-m-antaṁ nisinnaṁ kho Nakula-pitaraṁ gahapatiṁ āyasmā Sāriputto etada voca:|| ||

"Vi-p-pasannāni kho te gahapati, indriyāni,||
parisuddho mukha-vaṇṇo pariyodāto,||
alattha no ajja Bhagavato sammukhā Dhammiṁ kathaṁ savaṇāyā" ti.|| ||

"Kiṁ hi no siyā bhante, idānāhaṁ bhante,||
Bhagavatā Dhammiyā kathāya amatena abhisitto" ti.|| ||

"Yathā kathaṁ pana tvaṁ gahapati,||
Bhagavatā Dhammiyā kathāya amatena abhisitto" ti?|| ||

[7] "Idh'āhaṁ bhante, yena Bhagavā ten'upasaṅkamiṁ.|| ||

Upasaṅkamitvā Bhagavantaṁ abhivādetvā eka-m-antaṁ nisīdiṁ.|| ||

Eka-m-antaṁ nisinno kho'haṁ bhante, Bhagavantaṁ etad avocaṁ:||

'Aham asmi bhante, jiṇṇo vuddho mahallako addhagato vayo anuppatto ātura-kāyo abhikkhaṇātaṅko||
aniccadassāvī panāhaṁ bhante,||

Āturo ha'yaṁ gahapati,||
kāyo aṇḍabhūto pariyonaddho.|| ||

Yo hi gahapati,||
imaṁ kāyaṁ pariharanto muhuttam pi ārogyaṁ paṭijāneyya,||
kim aññatra bālyā.|| ||

Tasmātiha te gahapati,||
evaṁ sikkhitabbaṁ:|| ||

'Āturakāyassa me sato cittaṁ anāturaṁ bhavissatī' ti.|| ||

Evaṁ hi te gahapati, sikkhitabban" ti.|| ||

Evaṁ khv'āhaṁ bhante,||
Bhagavatā dhammiyā kathāya amatena abhisitto" ti.|| ||

[8] "Na hi pana taṁ gahapati,||
paṭibhāsi Bhagavantaṁ uttariṁ paṭipucchituṁ:|| ||

'Kittāvatā nu kho bhante,||
ātura-kāyo c'eva hoti ātura-citto ca?|| ||

Kittāvatā ca pana ātura-kāyo hi kho hoti,||
no ca ātura-citto' ti?"|| ||

[3] [9] "Dūrato pi kho mayaṁ bhante,||
āgaccheyyāma āyasmato Sāriputtassa santike etassa bhāsitassa attham aññātuṁ.|| ||

Sādhu vatāya-smantaṁ yeva Sāriputtaṁ paṭibhātu etassa bhāsitassa attho" ti.|| ||

[10] "Tena hi gahapati,||
suṇāhi sādhukaṁ manasi karohi,||
bhāsissāmī" ti.|| ||

"Evaṁ bhante" ti||
kho Nakula-pitā gahapati āyasmato Sāriputtassa paccassosi.|| ||

[11] Āyasmā Sāriputto etad avoca:|| ||

"Kathañ ca gahapati,||
ātura-kāyo c'eva hoti ātura-citto ca?|| ||

[12] Idha gahapati,||
a-s-sutavā puthujjano||
ariyānaṁ adassāvī||
ariya-Dhammassa||
akovido ariya-Dhamme avinīto,||
sappurisānaṁ adassāvī||
sappurisa-Dhammassa||
akovido sappurisa-Dhamme avinīto,||
rūpaṁ attato samanupassati,||
rūpavantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
attani vā rūpaṁ,||
rūpasmiṁ vā attāṇaṁ.|| ||

'Ahaṁ rūpaṁ mama rūpan' ti||
pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyī hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ rūpaṁ, mama rūpan' ti||
pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino taṁ rūpaṁ pariṇamati,||
aññathā hoti.|| ||

Tassa rūpa-vipariṇām-aññathā-bhāvā uppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkha-domanass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[13] Vedanaṁ attato samanupassati,||
vedanā-vantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
attani vā vedanaṁ,||
vedanāya vā attāṇaṁ.|| ||

'Ahaṁ vedanā, mama vedanā' ti pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyi hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ vedanā, mama vedanā' ti||
pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino sā vedanā vipariṇamati,||
aññathā hoti.|| ||

Tassa vedanā-vipariṇām-aññathā-bhāvā uppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkha-domanass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[14] Saññaṁ attato samanupassati,||
saññā-vantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
attani vā saññaṁ,||
saññāya vā attāṇaṁ.|| ||

'Ahaṁ saññā, mama saññā' ti pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyi hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ saññā, mama saññā' ti||
pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino sā saññā vipariṇamati,||
aññathā hoti.|| ||

Tassa saññā-vipariṇām-aññathā-bhāvā uppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkhamenass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[15] Saṅkhāre attato samanupassati,||
saṅkhāra-vantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
attani vā saṅkhāre,||
saṅkhāresu vā attāṇaṁ.

'Ahaṁ saṅkhārā, mama saṅkhārā' ti pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyī hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ saṅkhārā, mama saṅkhārā' ti||
pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino te saṅkhārā vipariṇamanti,||
aññathā honti.|| ||

Tassa saṅkhāra- [4] vipariṇām-aññathā-bhāvā uppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkha-domanass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[16.] Viññāṇaṁ attato samanupassati,||
viññāṇa-vantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
attani vā viññāṇaṁ,||
viññāṇasmiṁ vā attāṇaṁ.|| ||

'Ahaṁ viññāṇaṁ, mama viññāṇan' ti pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyī hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ viññāṇaṁ, mama viññāṇan' ti||
pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino taṁ viññāṇaṁ vipariṇamati,||
aññathā hoti.|| ||

Tassa viññāṇam-vipariṇām-aññathā-bhāvā uppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkha-domanass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[17] Evaṁ kho gahapati,||
ātura-kāyo c'eva hoti||
ātura-citto ca.|| ||

[18] Kathañ ca gahapati,||
ātura-kāyo pi kho hoti,||
no ca ātura-citto?|| ||

[19] Idha gahapati,||
sutavā ariya-sāvako||
ariyānaṁ dassāvī||
ariya-Dhammassa kovido||
ariya-Dhamme suvinīto,||
sappurisānaṁ dassāvī||
sappurisa-Dhammassa kovido||
sappurisa-Dhamme suvinīto||
na rūpaṁ attato samanupassati,||
na rūpavantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
na attani vā rūpaṁ,||
na rūpasmiṁ vā attāṇaṁ.|| ||

'Ahaṁ rūpaṁ, mama rūpan' ti na pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyī hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ rūpaṁ, mama rūpan' ti||
apariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino taṁ rūpaṁ vipariṇamati,||
aññathā hoti.|| ||

Tassa rūpa-vipariṇām-aññathā-bhāvā nūppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkha-domanass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[20] Na vedanaṁ attato samanupassati,||
na vedanā-vantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
na attani vā vedanaṁ,||
na vedanāya vā attāṇaṁ.|| ||

'Ahaṁ vedanā, mama vedanā' ti||
na pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyī hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ vedanā, mama vedanā' ti||
apariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino sā vedanā vipariṇamati,||
aññathā hoti.|| ||

Tassa vedanā-vipariṇāmaññāthābhāvā nūppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkha-domanass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[21] Na saññaṁ attato samanupassati,||
na saññā-vantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
na attani vā saññaṁ,||
na saññāya vā attāṇaṁ.|| ||

'Ahaṁ saññā, mama saññā' ti||
na pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyī hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ saññā, mama saññā' ti||
apariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino sā saññā vipariṇamati,||
aññathā hoti.|| ||

Tassa saññā-vipariṇām-aññathā-bhāvā nūppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkha-domansass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[5] [22] Na saṅkhāre attato samanupassati,||
na saṅkhāra-vantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
na attani vā saṅkhāre,||
na saṅkhāresu vā attāṇaṁ.|| ||

'Ahaṁ saṅkhārā, mama saṅkhāra' ti na pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyī hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ saṅkhārā, mama saṅkhārā' ti||
apariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino te saṅkhārā vipariṇamanti,||
aññathā honti.|| ||

Tassa saṅkhāra-vipariṇām-aññathā-bhāvā nūppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkha-domanass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[23] Na viññāṇaṁ attato samanupassati,||
na viññāṇa-vantaṁ vā attāṇaṁ,||
na attani vā viññāṇaṁ,||
na viññāṇasmiṁ vā attāṇaṁ.|| ||

'Ahaṁ viññāṇaṁ, mama viññāṇan' ti na pariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyī hoti.|| ||

Tassa 'Ahaṁ viññāṇaṁ, mama viññāṇan ti apariyuṭṭhaṭṭhāyino taṁ viññāṇaṁ vipariṇamati,||
aññathā hoti.|| ||

Tassa viññāṇa-vipariṇām-aññathā-bhāvā nūppajjanti soka-parideva-dukkha-domanass'upāyāsā.|| ||

[24] Evaṁ kho gahapati,||
ātura-kāyo hoti,||
no ca ātura-citto" ti.|| ||

Idam avoca āyasmā Sāriputto||
atta-mano Nakula-pitā gahapati āyasmato Sāriputtassa bhāsitaṁ abhinandīti.|| ||
