[1] THUS have I heard:

Once the Exalted One addressed the monks, saying:

"Monks."

"Yes, lord," they replied, and the Exalted One said:

"Monks, these ten states,
if made to grow,
if made much of,
conduce to downright
revulsion, fading,
calming,
comprehension,
enlightenment,
to nibbāna.,
but only in the discipline of the Wayfarer.

What ten?

Right view,
right thinking,
right speech,
right action,
right living,
right effort,
right mindfulness,
right concentration,
right knowledge,
right release.

These are the ten states,
which if made to grow,
if made much of,
conduce to downright
revulsion, fading,
calming,
comprehension,
enlightenment,
to nibbāna.,
but only in the discipline of the Wayfarer."
